4th of July

Unlike our last 3 or 4 years of July 4th's this one was very quite.  It was a cloudy, cool day.  So weird for July but then again I was very thankful because our AC went out.  Yes, it went out this exact same week last year, only difference it was 100 + degrees last year and in the 70-80's this year.

We went to my parents and the girls swam we had lots of yummy food and did a few fireworks before we headed downtown to Chris' work to enjoy the show that downtown Indianapolis puts on.  This has now become a tradition and the girls love it.  We head down around 6:30/7ish and the girls have fun playing with chalk, throwing a football and eating lots of snacks.

Newport Aquarium

Instead of taking a big vacation this year we decided to do a staycation around the July 4 holiday.  Of course the plan for our staycation was to spend every moment of our day at the pool but mother nature had different plans for us.  Yep it rained almost everyday of our staycation but we made the best of it.

Chris took one day off with us and we headed over to Newport Aquarium.  We had never been and it was so much fun.  The girls love everything that has to do with the ocean and Newport didn't disappoint.  We left our house around 9 in the morning, we had to make a stop at a brewery for some work stuff for Chris.  After we left the brewery we headed to lunch and then to the aquarium.  We took our time going through the aquarium and enjoyed every inch of it.

We finished up our day with a trip to Trader Joes, which is the biggest grocery store I have ever been in.  They have entire sections that are dedicated to certain foods.  For example, they had a section for rice, salsa, beer and more peanuts then I have ever seen in my life.  We also made our first trip to IKEA and I feel in love with all things IKEA.  That won't be our last trip.  We stopped for dinner at Applebee's and then headed home.

It was a great day!!
