First Day of School

It wasn't until about 1 year ago that I started to think about Hailey going to school but it was more like OH MY GOODNESS HAILEY IS GOING TO SCHOOL!!!!!!  I guess its normal that when you first have children you don't think about them going to school, then they turn 5 :(

Luckily, for this Mommy Hailey turned 5 in September so she didn't meet the August 1 cut off to start school.  That gave me one more year to think of her as my baby.  Our family had lots to do in that year she was 5, we had our house up for sale mainly to get in a different school system.  I wanted our girls to go to a school that was smaller then the school in the district we currently lived in.  I'm so thankful that our house did sell before the school year with plenty of time for Hailey to get use to a new house.  Our move also meant finding a new daycare or sitter for my girls.  I have a friend who had a sitter that lives 4 houses down from us so we met up with Debi and loved her, so the girls made another switch in June.  It was sad leaving Sonshine school and all the friends they had but it was good to know Hailey had some place to go when school started and could get on and off the bus.

Then the dreaded day came...August 6, 2012.  My babies first day of school :(  I was very excited for her to start school, meet new friends and be in a routine again but then again I was so sad.  MY BABY IS GOING TO SCHOOL!!!!!  She woke up for school and ate biscuits with grape jelly and was SO excited.  She put her backpack on 30 minutes before the bus came and I held my tears in for what seemed like 15 hours.  Then the bus came and I LOST it, I stood across the street from her so she couldn't see me cry.  Hailey climbed up the bus steps and then turned and waved to me, like it was NO BIG DEAL!!!!!  Then the bus pulled away with my baby on it, it was a feeling I had never felt before in my life, so weird.  That was the longest day of my life, I couldn't wait to get home from work and hear all about her day.  She has loved every day of school and this weekend couldn't wait to go back on Monday.
